My iCloud sync takes a long time or does not work at all

If your GymYou iCloud sync is very slow or not working at all, it could be due to one of the following reasons.

1. Background App Refresh is deactivated #

Background App Refresh is needed to notify the app if there are any remote changes in your iCloud.
If it is deactivated, GymYou might not be able to receive notifications about changes and the sync gets slow or completely stuck.

  1. On your iPhone go to Settings.
  2. Tap scroll until you find ‘GymYou’ and select it.
  3. Enable ‘Background App Refresh’.

2. You have installed GymYou on a new device. #

During the everyday use of GymYou, iCloud only needs to sync the latest changes which usually is not a lot of data. However, if you have installed GymYou on a new device or reinstalled on the same device, all data accumulated in the past must be synced all at once to the new installation.

In this case it is normal that the initial sync takes some time.
Since the permanent communication with iCloud also brings an increased power consumption, it is helpful if you let GymYou perform the initial synchronization at home or at a place with a good internet connection and charging possibility.

3. Your network connection is weak. #

Although syncing doesn’t usually require a lot of data transfer, a poor network connection can affect syncing. Do you maybe have bad reception in your gym?

Try to test the sync in an environment where you can be sure that you have a sufficiently strong internet connection. If the problem persists, see if one of the other steps helps.

4. iCloud syncing is disabled #

Check if your iCloud synchronization might be completely disabled. We have already written a short support article on how to enable or disable iCloud synchronization.

5. Your iCloud storage space is full #

We take data protection very seriously, which is why GymYou data is only stored in your private iCloud. If your iCloud storage space is full, GymYou can no longer sync.

Check if your iCloud storage space is full and free up some space.
